Leading through a crisis requires administrators to remain calm and composed, as their behavior sets the tone for the entire organization. A school leader’s preparedness, emotional stability keeps the school community focused on the solution. In high-pressure situations, quick decision-making is essential, but it must be balanced with rationality and thorough assessment. It is essential for school leaders to prioritize clear, well-informed decisions which are communicated effectively during a school crisis situation. Staying level-headed in a school-crisis aids a school leader in managing uncertainty, maintaining direction, and leading their staff with confidence. School leaders must establish a school response plan for various situations and have a crisis management plan in place, outlining specific actions and delegating roles to ensure a swift and organized response when a school crisis arises.

In this session, real-life school applications will be applied to school crisis’s situation so they may respond accordingly, such as a school evacuation, school threat, and medical response.
