Teaching for Equity and Justice (M.Ed)

Learn more about Montclair's 30-credit Teaching for Equity and Justice MEd, designed for practicing teachers who want to examine how race, culture, language and identity shape learning. The program also offers a flexible credential-stacking pathway: with approval from the Graduate Program Coordinator, up to 18 credits from eligible certifications or graduate certificates completed within the past five years may apply toward the degree.

Explore culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist teaching, community engagement, curriculum development and social justice leadership.
Combine the MEd with eligible teacher-certification pathways, including Alternate Route K–6, P–3 or P–12 Subject Area; Bilingual-Bicultural Education; Computer Science; or Teaching English as a Second Language.
Stack eligible graduate certificates in areas such as Child Advocacy, Educational Assessment, Gifted and Talented Education, Inquiry-Based Teaching and Learning, TESOL, Translation and Interpreting in Spanish, and more.
Learn how approved previous or concurrent coursework can create a personalized path toward completing the MEd while building complementary credentials.
